The Ipswich U9 girls rocked the turf at IHS. 2nd grader Reid Johnson scored her first of three goals early off a sweet assist from newcomer Isabella Racho who was relentless in the midfield. Goalie, newcomer Gracyn Cummins stood her ground in the first half allowing only three goals, matched by fellow newcomer Zoe Pincus in goal the second half with only three goals allowed. Every goal was hard-won by Tribal as newbies Vivian Bodycombe, Alli Colannino, Cabot Johnson, Ella McCarthy, Grace Wen and Isabel Welenc marked up persistently and with enthusiasm. Returners Lia Dillon and Hadley Blaisdell kept the ball moving in the midfield, assisted by excellent ground ball recovery on offense from newbies Natalie Elder, Eleanor Corcoran and Phoebe Allen. While the game wasn’t officially a win, we left the field ecstatic at the team’s unbelievable improvement and excited for the future!
